1 New Mediators Accreditation

This membership is for mediators who are accrediting for the first time or doing a completely new accreditation. You will have to provide evidence of meeting the training and assessment requirements for accreditation and other requirements.

It costs $320 for two years accreditation and Mediation Institute RMAB membership.

Mi RMAB with transfer to Mi RMAB2Transfer of current NMAS Accreditation and Membership (mid term)

With this type of membership you are already accredited under another RMAB and would like to transfer your accreditation to Mediation Institute. Unlike some membership associations we keep your membership renewal and NMAS Accreditation anniversary the same date.

Sure it makes it easier for you to move your accreditation but we think that if we are not giving you enough value for your membership you should move. Download the Transfer Form.

It costs $120 for up to one year and $220 for up to two years membership in this category. When your renewal comes due it will be $320 for two years including the fee we pay on your behalf to the Mediators Standards Board.

3 Renew your NMAS Accreditation with Mediation Institute (at renewal)

This membership is a renewal so you’ll need to provide your listing of professional development and provide confirmation that you have met the standards for the number of mediations you have completed. If you are doing other work and not a lot of mediation we encourage you to offer yourself as a mentor and co-mediator for new mediators.

They get the benefit of your support and mentoring, you get to do some mediation without having to market your services and the clients get the benefit of two for the price of one.

Download our NMAS Accreditation Renewal form.

It costs $320 for your two years of accreditation and Meditation Institute RMAB membership.

Mi RMAB Membership but not NMAS AccreditationStudents, FDR only and Membership Only

With this type of membership will not be under Mediation Institute NMAS Accredited Mediators on the Mediators Standards Board listing. This is because you are not yet eligible for accreditation, you are a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner and have chosen not to be NMAS Accredited or you are NMAS Accredited with someone else.

If you are not a current student or accrediting or accredited Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner please read this post – What if I am a mediator but am not NMAS Accredited?

Complaints Handling

Mediation Institute runs a compliant complaint handing service for mediators and family dispute resolution practitioners. We will accept complaints about any mediator or person who claims to clients that they are a mediator. If we can, we will contact them to discuss the concerns raised by their client. If they are accredited with another RMAB or have another complaints handling service we will hand over the complaint and information collected to date from the complainant (with their permission) to the appropriate complaint handling body.

Insurance

Read this blog post – https://rmab.mediationinstitute.edu.au/?s=insurance or download a copy of one of our Accreditation Application forms for information about insurance. We have the contact details of an underwriter who can write you a policy for between $225 and $245 (as at 31.7.2017) depending on your state or territory.

Professional Development

Professional Development activities are free for members and very responsive to your needs. Tell us what you are interested in and we’ll try to accommodate. At the moment our CPD is across several streams:

  • mediation skills
  • FDR skills
  • Learning from practice
  • Ethics
  • Practice Management
