Our Approach

Friendly. Professional. Accessible.

Friendly

Our approach is informal and designed to be responsive to members. Where possible CPD and support is provided at little or no extra cost but be aware that not paying extra means we can’t book in fancy venues or pay speakers. Most activities are online and if you have a get together they are usually in someone’s home and based on the “bring a plate” philosophy.

Professional

Being friendly does not mean we cut corners on professional standards.

Mediation Institute established in 2013 for the purpose of supporting mediators and family dispute resolution practitioners to lift industry standards for mediation as a distinct profession requiring training and ongoing professional development. Our Complaints Handling Service is designed to identify misconduct and take action should it occur but also to identify opportunities to improve practice in order to strive towards excellence in practice and process.

Accessible

Making mediation training accessible is another core value that Mediation Institute strives for. We want access to quality training and services for people in regional, rural and restricted situations such as carer responsibilities.

Most of our official activities are delivered online through Video Mediation and Meeting technology but we are very keen to help support local chapters to develop for face to face networking, peer learning and professional development activities.

Our Story

Mediation Institute was established in 2013 to provide vocational training for mediators and family dispute resolution practitioners in partnership with registered training organisations.

We’re the mediation specialists and provide all training and assessment. They are the compliance specialists and they provide validation support and certification.

We became a Recognised Mediator Accreditation Body (Mi RMAB) in 2017. Our goal is to be a friendly, professional and accessible accreditation body for Mediators and Family Dispute Resolution Practitioners.

We don’t provide services for Conciliators or Arbitrators as our focus is on faciliative mediation and family dispute resolution.

Our Members Mix

Our goal is to cater for the needs of our members who practice across the diversity of mediation including workplace, elder mediation and family dispute resolution.
